Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Review - Price & Specifications
Xiaomi launched Redmi Note 4, the newest member in the Redmi series and it almost follows the predecessors Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3S. It too has a metallic body and follows specifications similar to its predecessors. Starting price is at Rs.9000 for the 2GB RAM variant, it is also available with 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM. This mobile is going to be a tough competitor to others that fall into this category. It comes in two shades in India - Gold and Matte Black.
Redmi Note 4 follows a similar design to that of the Redmi Note 3 but is slimmer and has a sturdy feel. When it comes to the front panel, you will find antenna bands running across the top as well as the bottom. The rear camera, dual-tone LED flash, and the fingerprint scanner is placed similarly to the Redmi 3S. Towards the bottom, you will find the speaker grilles, the micro USB port for data transfer and charging. At the top, you will find the infrared emitter and a 3.5mm audio jack. The power button and the volume buttons are on the right side and are very much handy.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 features a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS display with a resolution of 1080X1920 pixels with 401ppi. It is very easy to read the text, and the images appear sharper. It has a reading mode in the settings when adjusted comforts your vision. It showcases decent viewing angles and offers great visibility even in direct sunlight. It has a big screen and so is a perfect choice to watch movies or play games.
This handset is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (MSM8953) processor clocked at 2GHz with an integrated Adreno 506 GPU. It has 2GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. Also, it comes in other variants like 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. It features hybrid SIM tray that supports one Nano SIM and one Micro SIM or a microSD card which can be extended up to 128GB. It also features a 4100mAh battery which is non-removable.
When it comes to the camera, Redmi Note 4 has a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, and a dual tone LED flash. It comes with loads of modes to choose from the options given. It gives quality pictures with nice detailing. It has a 5MP front camera. The various connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, USB OTG, FM radio, GPS/ A-GPS, Miracast, GLONASS, and BeiDou, 4G and VoLTE. It lacks NFC connectivity.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 runs MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Surprisingly you will find the Now on Tap feature that had been introduced in 2015. It also comes with a new gallery app that automatically syncs stored photos on the phone with the Mi Cloud that offers 5GB free storage when you sign up for an account. It also has the Quick Ball feature, Dual Apps, and Second Space as well. With Dual Apps helps to create two instances of any app on your phone and so one can use two Whatsapp accounts at the same time. Second Space allows users to separate business and personal data and lets the user use two entirely different Google accounts on the same phone. You can also enjoy the scrolling screenshots. It also filters messages and helps us prioritize which messages are to be looked into on prior basis.
This phone has plenty of pre-loaded apps including Security, Compass, Scanner, Recorder, Feedback, Mi Picks, Mi Community, Mi Remote, Music, Mi Store, Weather, and a default browser and you cannot uninstall them. It is a good choice for media playback and plays video including 4K ones.
Apart from the numerous pre-loaded apps and hybrid SIM slot, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is indeed a good choice. It is a great phone when it comes to design, looks, battery life and even the price.
